Products We Offer

Recent scientific information has found a positive link between good dental health and over-all physical health and well-being.  Poor dental health has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, poor outcomes for pregnant woman (pre-term birth, low birth weight babies, and pre-eclampsia).  In addition, dental cavities in children is the NUMBER ONE chronic disease in childhood.

Yarmosky Pediatric Dentistry is committed to the PREVENTION of dental cavities and the PROMOTION of oral health as a way to improve the quality and total body health for all our patients and their families.

There are several products that we offer to our patients that have been proven to aid in cavity prevention and improve oral health when used as recommended. NOT all products are suitable to for every patient.  We recommend each product based on your child’s individual “caries risk” assessment and particular dental situation.

o        Just for Kids 0.4% Stannous Fluoride gel/Kids Choice 0.4% Stannous Fluoride Gel.  This product has the same amount of fluoride concentration as over-the counter toothpaste, but due to the formulation it is ANTIMICROBIAL.  This means that not only does the fluoride content in the gel help strengthen “weak spots” in the teeth, but also has the added benefit of reducing and killing the bacteria in the mouth that cause cavities and gingivitis (puffy, red, bleeding gums.)  It also does not “foam” up in the mouth and has several pleasing flavors kids love (bubble-gum, tropical –fruit, groovy-grape).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: AS WITH ALL DENTAL PRODUCTS COTAINTING FLUORIDE KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. USE IN-PLACE OF REGULAR TOOTHPASTE AT NIGHT.  AN ADULT MUST DISPENSE A SMALL SMEAR ON THE THOOTHBRUSH AND BRUSH ON THE CHILD’S TEETH. EXCESS CAN BE SPIT OUT, BUT WE RECOMMEND NOT RINSING AND ALLOWING PRODUCT TO REMAIN ON TEETH FOR MAXIMUM BENEFIT.

o        Ortho –Wash 0.044% Acidulated Phosphate Sodium Fluoride rinse: This is an acidulated sodium fluoride rinse that is stronger than over the counter rinse such as “ACT”. We recommend to ALL patients in orthodontic treatment/braces. Having braces puts any patient at a higher risk for dental cavities and gum disease juts because cleaning around them can be difficult and there are many more surfaces for plague to adhere/stick too.  An unfortunate result of poor plague control and braces in “white spot” lesions that presently scar the teeth after braces are removed. Also, prolonged plague exposure to the gums can cause significant gum health issues. We strive to not only provide our patients with beautiful straight teeth, but healthy teeth and gums after treatment I completed.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: AS WITH ALL DENTAL PRODUCTS COTAINTING FLUORIDE KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. USE ONCE A DAY AFTER BRUSHING WITH A FLUORIDE TOOTHPASTE. SWISH WITH 10 MLS (2TEASPOONS) FOR 1 MINUTE THAN SPIT OUT. DO NOT SWALLOW THR RINSE. DO NOT EAT OR DRINK FOR 30 MINUTES AFTER RINSING FOR MAXIMUM RESULTS.

o        PerioMed or GingiMed 0.63% Stannous Fluoride Concentrate: is a Stannous Fluoride product that is used to prevent decay and/or decrease severe gum inflammation and has much higher fluoride content than an OTC product. This is mainly used for older children/teens, and is dispensed on a very selective basis.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: AS WITH ALL DENTAL PRODUCTS COTAINTING FLUORIDE KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. USE ONCE DAILY AFER BRUSHING WITH TOOTHPASTE. DISPENSE 2 COMPLETE PUMPS OF PRODUCT INTO CUP PROVIDED (1/8OZ) THWN ADD WATER TO LINE ON SAME CUP (1OZ). MIX UP WITH BRISTLE END OF TOOTHBRUSH AND BRUSH ON TEETH. THEN SWISH WITH REMAINDER OF RINSE FOR ONE MINUTE AND SPIT OUT. DO NOT SWALLOW. DO NOT EAT OR DRINK FRO 30 MINUTES AFTER USAGE FOR MAXIMUM BENEFIT.

o        Tanners Tasty Paste- OTC strength fluoride toothpaste, great tasting, no sodium lauryl sulfate, naturally flavored/colored: the new AAPD (American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry) recommendations are that a child should have their teeth brushed with fluoride toothpaste at the eruption of the first tooth!   Does your child “hate the taste” of toothpaste?? We have the answer for you. All natural, xylitol sweetened fluoride toothpaste that tastes GREAT!! It comes in incredibly delicious flavors that kids cannot resist (“BANAILLA BLING” tastes like vanilla frosting, “CHA-CHA CHOCOLATE” tastes like chocolate ice-cream, and “BLINGSICKLE” taste like a cream sickle).  This product is ALL-NATURAL with no artificial flavors or colors and has the benefit have having NO SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE as an ingredient which may cause mouth ulcers in those who are sensitive to it.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: AS WITH ALL DENTAL PRODUCTS COTAINTING FLUORIDE KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. PARENTS TO DISPENSE A SMALL SMEAR OR SMALL PEA-SIZED AMT. OF TOOTHPASTE ON TOOTHBRUSH FOR CHILD. PARENT SHOULD IDEALLY BRUSH TOOTHPASTE ON CHILD’S TEETH. IF CHILD WANTS TO “HELP” OR “DO IT THEM-SELVES” PARENT SHOUD NOT APPLY MORE TOOTHPASTE ON TOOTHBRUSH OR ALLOW CHILD TO USE WATER OR FLUORIDE-FREE/TRAINING TOOTHPASTE.

o        CLINPRO-5000 1.1% Sodium Fluoride toothpaste with Tri-Calcium Phosphate

This toothpaste has 4-times the amount of fluoride in it than OTC fluoride toothpaste and is considered prescription strength. It also has a Tri-Calcium-Phosphate ion as an ingredient. This product is recommended for patients that are high risk for cavities, have “white-spot” lesions, and is also great toothpaste for patients in orthodontics or have dry mouth due to certain health conditions or certain medications. Due to the very high fluoride content, it is NOT recommended for children 6 years and younger.

A similar product we may recommend is PREVIDENT 5000 Booster or PREVENDENT 5000 Sensitive – has 4-times fluoride concentration without Tri-calcium Phosphate ion as ingredient.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: AS WITH ALL DENTAL PRODUCTS COTAINTING FLUORIDE KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. USE ONCE DAILY IN PLACE OF REGULAR TOOTHPASTE OR AS ONLY TOOTHPASTE PER DENTSITS RECOMMENDATIONS. APPLY A THIN RIBBON OF PRODUCT TO TOOHBRUSH AND BRUSH FOR 2 MINUTES. SPIT OUT EXCESS (CHILDREN AGE 6-16 SHOULD RINSE WITH WATER, AGES 16-ADULTS DO NOT RINSE WITH WATER AFTER SPITING.

o        MI PASTE or MI PASTE PLUS

This product offers the clinical benefits of RECALDENT TM  (CPP-ACP) which contains casein phospopeptide-amorpous calcium phosphate. MI Paste does not contain fluoride and MI Paste Plus contains 900pm fluoride ion (less than over-the counter toothpaste).  These products are indicated for prevention of demineralization, prevention of orthodontic white spots, prevention of erosion, help buffer acids intra-orally, helps promote remineralization, helps treat white-spot lesions, relief of dentinal sensitivity and post-bleaching preventive and therapeutic crème.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:  If using MI PASTE apply with finger tip, “Q-Tip” or toothbrush after brushing with a fluoride toothpaste.  “Rub-in” to teeth and leave undisturbed for 3 minutes.

If using MI PASTE PLUS (with fluoride) do not have to use separate toothpaste.  Brush teeth and rub in product and let sit on teeth for 3 minutes.

o        Xylitol Gum: Thera-Gum 100% xylitol sweetened gum 1.4g xylitol per serving (2 pieces): There are many scientific studies stating that chewing xylitol gum reduces cavities and improves oral health.  Xylitol gum chewing has been recommended for expectant mothers, mothers of young children and children and adults with a cavity risk.  Xylitol reduces plague formation and plaque adherence to the teeth, inhibits tooth demineralization (weakening) and changes the bacteria in our mouths so we are less likely to form cavities. Many gum companies sell gums that have xylitol as an ingredient.  However, they do not have a consistent amount of xylitol listed and also have other ingredients added.  We are selling “thera-gum” to our patients as this product has 100% xylitol as the only sweetener and no other artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors. We will recommend specific “amounts and times” of gum chewing based on risk.  We believe, based on the most current research, that xylitol gum chewing is a very effective and beneficial way to prevent dental disease for the whole family.  For more information on xylitol research look on the web www.AAPD.org (American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry)

DIRECTIONS:

FOR “MODERATE CARIES RISK” – AFTER MEALS CHEW 2 PIECES OF GUM FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES

FOR “HIGH CARIES RISK” – AT LEAST 5 TIMES PER DAY CHEW 2 PIECESOF GUM AFTER MEALS AND SNACKS FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES
